Last week Ballynafeigh Community Development Association held our We Love Where We Live Week, funded by the Belfast City Council Good Relations Grant. This was a week of events that aimed to bring members of the Ballynafeigh community together to learn more about each other and the area they live!
Tuesday 18th July
The first of our events was the Ballynafeigh Walking Tours on Tuesday with Rory and Donal. Both our morning session and evening session attendees got to take a walk around the Ormeau Road, learning things about their local area that they may not have known before, and sharing stories with each other about Ballynafeigh!
Wednesday 19th July
On Wednesday we had our Cultural Evening, where members of the community came together to learn more about the diverse backgrounds and cultures in Belfast. They took part in an African Drumming Workshop, followed by a Small Worlds Workshop where they were able to hear the stories of people who came to Belfast from many different backgrounds!
Also on Wednesday, our Ballynafeigh Men’s Shed went on a fishing trip, where they were able to connect with each other and with nature, and take themselves out of their comfort zone!
Thursday 20th July
On Thursday, we had an Intergenerational Craft afternoon at BCDA, where our attendees made decorations and keyrings together, with facilitator Trisha Campbell!
Friday 21st July
To end the week, we had a Summer Tea Dance, hosted by Annadale Community Centre, where our Seniors and others from the local community had some food, dancing and entertainment from Rosey Hunter!
