In the year 2022/23 our Senior Welfare Rights and Advocacy Worker Marie McCallin worked with 1700 clients at Ballynafeigh Community Development Association and our 9 Outreach Centres. Marie assisted these clients with a variety of benefits and welfare inquiries, including Personal Independence Payment, Disability Living Allowance, and Universal Credit forms, among others.
As well as assisting with accessing these benefits, Marie also worked on 11 appeals, of which 9 were heard and successful, bringing an average of £3000 a year increased income per client.
This year, Ballynafeigh Community Development Association are happy to welcome Zakia Mekki to the Advice Team, as our new Welfare Rights and Advocacy Worker. Zakia worked as a volunteer for the advice team for several months, before being appointed to the position on our staff!
