On Sunday 2nd October Ballynafeigh Community Development Association hosted a Cultural Day – aiming to highlight and celebrate the many different nationalities and cultures represented in the Ballynafeigh area and across Belfast.
We enjoyed an afternoon of music, dancing, henna, origami, lantern making, as well as lots of delicious food and good craic, from cultures such as China, Japan, India and Chile.
The afternoon began with performances of Chinese and South American dance, followed by some Chilean guitar music. After that, people were able to take part in a variety of activities; doing crafts such as origami or lantern making, or getting a traditional henna tattoo. Guests then also had the opportunity to try some Indian curries, as well as other snacks!
Many thanks to Arts Ekta for providing the food and activities, to Belfast City Council for funding, and for so many members of the community for coming along and learning about the different cultures that are right on their doorstep!
